Fuel is stolen from the retail dispensers using various techniques. For example, thieves can open or remove doors or panels on the dispenser to gain access to the dispenser's internal metering components. By disabling this metering component, gas can be pumped from the dispenser without triggering any indication of fuel flow. In other cases, the dispenser is placed in a programming mode that allows a free flow of gas. Before the station even knows that the gas pump has been tampered with, the thieves are long gone.

The Flint Loc Pump Alarm has undergone 3 years of testing so that it does what no other device on the market can do — prevent any tampering with the fuel pump that could allow the flow of free gasoline. At the first sign of tampering, the pump goes into Sleep Mode, which immediately prevents gasoline or diesel fuel from dispensing.
